Mufti Naeem spoke about this life and Allah’s promise of Jannah if one fulfils the commandments of Allah and follow the sunnah of our prophet (pbuh). He said how Angels will ask the people in the grave as to who they envy in the living world and they will respond by saying they envy the people who are praying in the Masjid. He reminded how it is a sunnah to recite Surah Al-Kahf in the day of Jumma. He told a story of how a person saw a dream of a late Shaikh who taught hadith all his life and he asked him if Allah rewarded for his deeds and the Shaikh responded by saying how Allah forgave for a small Amal he did by letting a fly drink. Mufti said how even the smallest Amal will benefit and therefore one must not ignore small Amal’s and these Amal’s must be done consistently and sincerely and not for showing off. He said how no one will live in this world forever and a day will come when a person will depart and this applies to the prophet (pbuh) too even though he deserves to live forever. He concluded by advising how to refresh one’s emaan.
Mufti Naeem started with reciting ayah from sura Fussilath. He requested the people to try and learn the life of our prophet (pbuh) in his birth month of Rabi al Awal so that we can learn and practice his sunnah. He said how the prophet (pbuh) said that if a person is steadfast in practicing one of his sunnah during the period of fitnah and tribulations then the person will get the reward of 100 Shaheed (martyrs). Mufti said that we are presently in that period of fitnah where people are going away from practising the sunnah. Mufti reminded how the prophet (pbuh) said at the time of his death he is leaving two things being the Quran and the sunnah and advised to steadfastly hold on to them. Mufti said the story of how the Quraysh sent an intelligent person Uthba ibn Rabiah to try and speak to the prophet (pbuh) and convince him to stop preaching and the prophet (pbuh) responded by reciting sura Fussilath the ayah where Allah said how he punished the people of Aad and Thamud. Mufti concluded by saying how the prophet (pbuh) gave his ummah glad tidings seven times saying that the ummah has not seen me but they believe in me.
Mufti Naeem started by explaining the month of Rabi Al Awal and the month our prophet (pbuh) was born. He said how Allah has conferred a great favour by sending the prophet (pbuh). He said those days in Arab world kids were sent to villages to get fresh food and air and learn the pure language of Arabic. He explained how hazrat Ali answered a question raised by a Jew and said how the believers worship Allah 24 hours a day by following the sunnah of our prophet (pbuh). He concluded by requesting the congregation to read the history of our prophet (pbuh) and practice his sunnah.
Mufti Naeem Ali started off with saying how Allah has said in the Quran that whatever good deeds a person does will not go to waste and Allah will reward for those good deeds. He explained how the reward for good deeds get multiplied and bad deeds is not multiplied hence the favour Allah has given to the ummah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). He spoke about how the sahabi Muaz ibn Jabal requested the prophet (pbuh) for some advice and the prophet (pbuh) gave him three advices and he went on to explain the three advices. The first advice is, whenever you do a sin, do some good deed, the second advice is to be shy with Allah and the third advice is to establish your prayers as if it is the last prayer in your life. He concluded in advising the people to come to the Masjid for salah.
Mufti Naeem Ali said how Allah says in the Quran to the Prophet (pbuh), tell the Umma that if you want Allah to love you or if you want to show Allah that you love Allah then you must follow the footsteps (Sunnah) of the Prophet (pbuh). He explained how some people dismiss the Sunnah and say they only follow the Quran. He continued how Allah says, that following only the Quran is not sufficient and one must follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). Allah said that whatever the Prophet (pbuh) is telling is not from his own desire but from Allah (a revelation) and this includes his actions. He gave an example of how not to cheat in business or job and follow the command of the Prophet (pbuh) and the Prophet (pbuh) said that a person who cheats is not from amongst us. Mufti went on to say these tests are applied to everything in life and asked the question, when salah time approaches at work place, whose command will you follow? Allah’s or your boss? He said a wise person will always follow the command of Allah. He also said that if your love for Allah is true and genuine then you will obey Allah and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh). He reminded of what the Prophet (pbuh) said, that is, your emaan is not complete until you love the Prophet (pbuh) more than anything else. He went on to tell the story of the love of Majnoon and Leila. He concluded with the story of a person killing 100 people and was questioning if Allah will forgive him and was seeking to ask someone this question.

He explained how Allah promised that sincere prayer will stop a person from all evil actions. He spoke about how a person should smile which is also a sunnah. He also told how shaytan was arrogant and did not prostrate to Adam and the Imam compared this arrogance with present day Muslims and advised to be humble as advised by our Prophet (pbuh). He questioned how we can be humble to fellow Muslims if we are not humble in front of Allah. He reminded again how if the salah is correct then the rest of the actions will be correct. He also said how the Prophet (pbuh) kept on saying close to his death to be very mindful of the salah. The first reward given by Allah for salah is putting away the worry of his rizq. He said how a person gets two certificates if he gets takbir oola for 40 consecutive days. He mentioned a story of an Aalim in England getting questioned by people in order to make fun of him. The point he was getting is how in salah one talks to Allah and in the original language of the holy Quran. He concluded by reminding again as to why Muslims today are facing lots of problems due to neglecting their salah.

He explained a hadith how a Sahabi asked the Prophet (pbuh) which of the actions are most loved by Allah and first action being praying on time and he said therefore how we should be very mindful and diligent of our daily salah. The second beloved thing to Allah is taking care of your parents, he went on to explain how we are not even allowed to say uff to our parents and how not to talk back to them. He also mentioned the famous hadith of how a Sahabi asked the Prophet (pbuh) who he should respect the most and how the Prophet (pbuh) replied, mother three times and then the father for the fourth time. He concluded with the story of how a lady will drag four men to the hell fire even though they were destined to paradise.
Spoke about what the Prophet (pbuh) told his sahaba’s as to how Allah will ultimately give a believer who has not adhered to his religion but has an atom of emaan, Jannah and went on to tell the story of how the last person to enter Jannah will plead with Allah to take him out of Hell Fire and place him in a lower punishment area and how this person promises Allah that he will not ask for anything else. He continued with this story and said how this person broke his promise many times and was pleading with Allah until he, the last person was admitted to Jannah and his Jannah was ten times bigger than this world. The Prophet (pbuh) mentions how valuable is this emaan and how merciful is Allah that because of this emaan Allah is granting Jannah. He said as Muslims we must say Alhamdulillah for this emaan. Imam further said that how the Prophet (pbuh) said that if one starts his business with haram things like gambling and interest and runs after the Oxens that means one is engaged with this Dunya and forgotten Allah. He also explained the word Jihard and quoted examples of Jihard. He concluded stating why Muslims today are being humiliated and told that this will not be reversed until Muslims get back to their original Deen.

He mentioned how Allah changes the conditions of people and how the days and time of people rotate. He asked the question “what kind of a Muslim are we?” if we do not follow the action of our Prophet (pbuh) and just say “it is only a sunnah” He stressed the importance of the Sunnah. Finally, he requested to make a commitment in this new year to forgive everyone.
